Wurundjeri Country
Charlie Ryan is a contemporary artist and designer, planted on Bunurong Country in the hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula, Australia.
His artworks entwine the unbounded connection between nature, selfhood, kinship, and community.
Predominantly portraying formed natural abstracts, the artist has a partiality towards long grass and the harvest of the seasons.
This solo exhibition showcases a collection of new and retrospective works spanning multiple collections of Charlie Ryan’s painted, collaged, street and printed works. Including never before seen pieces from the artist’s own private collection.
You can find some of the stories behind the works mounted on the walls throughout the exhibition, and within this online exhibition catalogue.
Alongside the exhibition, Burnley Brewing and Charlie Ryan have collaborated together to create ‘The Dancer’ — a limited batch new world pale ale, with zesty hops and a refreshing dry finish.
The beer name and label design draws back to Charlie Ryan’s community mural painted recently on the facade of Cellar & Pantry in Red Hill, and his wider series of Dance works — representing a celebration of life as a dance.
The exhibition is presented by the Burnley Brewing Community Bierhall Art Series.
A Rotating Collection
As works sell throughout the duration of the exhibition, the collection will rotate new works in to replace sold works (unless the purchaser is happy for their new work to stay).
Meaning you can purchase an artwork today and have it delivered to your door soon after… And not have to wait for the exhibition to finish.
